Amplifying the holacratic work method by fostering interaction
The challenge
Innovative design & build company Octatube embarked on an ambitious project: creating a new office and production facility in Delft. The goal was to unite their engineering and craftsmanship teams on an enlarged site, adjacent to their existing premises.
This new facility would reflect Octatube's open and collaborative character, support their growing operations, and demonstrate how industrial production can thrive in an increasingly dense mixed-use urban environment.
The impact
This project was an exciting opportunity to integrate architecture, engineering, and social urban renewal. We created a building that opens up the production workspace to the street, showcasing the craft of steel and glass manufacturing to the public.
The workspace design was tailored to perfectly align with the engineers’ working methods, featuring clusters of projectteams with numerous small meeting areas that support diverse collaboration styles - ranging from open layouts for teamwork to enclosed spaces for focused tasks. Through close collaboration with Octatube, we ensured the design promotes synergy between the design and build teams, offers a healthy and inspiring work environment, and remains adaptable for the future.
The new headquarters demonstrates that industrial manufacturing and urban living can coexist, even in a dense city. Located next to the university campus of the TU Delft, it strengthens ties between industry and education while securing a vibrant future for Octatube’s operations. Designed for flexibility and change, the facility supports Octatube’s ambition to continue delivering groundbreaking projects for at least another 40 years.
